Disability Employment Network (DEN)
Overview
The Disability Employment Network (DEN) provides specialist assistance to job seekers with disabilities who require on going support to find and maintain employment. DEN is delivered by a network or organisation, large and small around Australia A job seeker can be referred to DEN if they:
- have a permanent (or likely to be permanent) disability;
- have a reduced capacity for communication, learning or mobility;require support for more than six months after placement in employment;
- require specialist assistance to build capacity in order to share the financial, social and personal /over benefits that employment offers.
The assistance that a job seeker can expect is employment preparation, job search and placements, and post placement support.
Open employment services assist people with disabilities to gain and maintain employment or to become self-employed. Professional staff provide training, job placement and on-the-job support. Each year open employment services helps more than 46 000 people with moderate to severe disabilities find and keep work.
Objectives
The objectives of the DEN Program are to provide high quality, specialist employment services.
Disability Employment Network (DEN) is designed to assist job seekers with employment preparation, job search, job placement and post placement support.
The DEN program:
- enables job seekers with a disability to achieve sustainable employment to their maximum capacity;
- promotes the capacity of people with a disability leading to improved employment opportunities;
- encourages innovation and continuous improvement in the provision of employment services.
Eligibility
A DEN participant may be referred to the DEN Program if they:
- DEN participants do not need to be receiving income support payments to be eligible for the DEN Capped Stream. This service is provided with the assistance of the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
- Have an assessed future work capacity of eight or more hours of work per week;
- Require long term support in the workplace and/or are unable to work at full wages.
