Life Works at Workability
Workability’s range of activities and training programs, known as Lifeworks, has been designed to complement existing programs which see Workability moving towards a more holistic model of service delivery. These courses and social activities have emerged directly in response to client consultation and are delivered across our sites in the Perth metropolitan area.
As well as courses focused on assisting people to find employment, we recognise that promoting physical and mental wellbeing through a wide range of arts and pre-vocational skills programs is vital to client’s progression towards further training and employment opportunities.
Regular activities Workability clients participate in as part of Life Works are:
-
· Lunch Club – a weekly client social club which invites external speakers to visit the Workability office and speak to clients on a range of topics (Perth office)
-
· JAG (Job Activity group) – a staff assisted weekly job search group (Perth, Joondalup and Mandurah offices)
-
· Orientation – a fortnightly tour and orientation group for new clients and volunteers (Perth office)
Current training programs and their locations:
-
· Arts Pathway Classes: a series of Department of Training and Workforce Development monthly workshops in a range of arts skills including photography, drawing, drama, music, sculpture and movement (Perth office)
-
· First and Second Click – Department of Education funded basic computer literacy classes for clients and external participants (Mandurah)
-
· In-house basic computing skills courses for clients (Perth)
-
· Livesafe – a 3 day workshop run 3-4 times a year for clients on safety awareness, preventing crime and staying safe in the community funded by the Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program – Attorney General’s office (Perth, Joondalup and Mandurah)
-
· Structured JAG Course: an 8 week introductory course aimed at equipping new clients with job search, interview and working skills (Mandurah, Joondalup and Perth)
In keeping with the philosophy of our Lifeworks @ Workability, all workshop content is client-driven. As a consequence, activities available through the program are continuously expanding and will be updated on the website when they change.
